MLB Betting Free Pick: New York Yankees at Arizona Diamondbacks

FREE PICK: New York Yankees (Sabathia) at Arizona Diamondbacks (Greinke)

#978 UNDER 8.5 (Tuesday, April 30 @ 9:40 pm EST)

It’s been pretty amazing to watch the New York Yankees win 11 of 13 on the strength of an offense that averaged 6.3 runs per game during that span. With the likes of Gleyber Torres, Mike Tauchman, Gio Urshela, Tyler Wade and Brett Gardner of all people batting third, the Bronx Bombers have no doubt overachieved of late. But one of the key reasons was level of competition. Those 13 starters New York faced were a who’s who of mediocre, middle-of-the-rotation arms. The only premium names they faced during the run was Chris Sale, who has been horrific, and Madison Bumgarner, who is currently 1-4 with a 4.30 ERA. The competition steps up tonight as Arizona’s Zack Greinke should offer a lot less in the way of hittable pitches. Other than DJ LeMahieu, much of the Yankees’ lineup has little to no experience against Greinke who with his vast array of pitches and speeds is a tough nut to crack for young hitters. CC Sabathia has been serviceable through three starts; all of which 5-inning stints. The competition hasn’t been strong (White Sox, Royals, and Angels) but pitching in Chase Field against a soft Diamondbacks lineup isn’t either. Both bullpens should be in good shape as well with Monday’s day off. Will look to play this game under the total of 8.5.
