MLB Betting Free Pick: Cleveland Indians at Texas Rangers

FREE PICK: Cleveland Indians (Bieber) at Texas Rangers (Minor)

#914 Texas +105 (Thursday, June 20 @ 2:05 pm PT)

Near identical records for two teams that had polar opposite preseason projections. The Cleveland Indians (39-34) were expected to run away with the AL Central but instead trail the Minnesota Twins by nine games. This afternoon they’ll send Shane Bieber to the hill. Overall, Bieber has been a pleasant surprise with 108 strikeouts over 85 innings and a sub-4.00 ERA, FIP and xFIP. The one knock against him has been the long ball with 18 allowed. You’ll notice in some of the more homer friendly venues of Boston and Chicago (White Sox), he allowed seven long balls over two starts which suggests today’s outing in Texas could be difficult. Not to mention the Rangers have the capabilities of really loading their lineup with left-handed bats.

Like Texas (39-35) as a team, Mike Minor has defied expectations with a 2.63 ERA. Minor will have a tough time maintaining that for the remainder of the season but today’s start is favorable as the Indians grade out well below average vs. left-handed pitchers. And while Globe Life Park can be extremely tough on pitchers, Minor appears to have figured it out having allowed just two home runs over 45.1 innings. Surprised to see the Rangers and Minor as a home underdog considering some of the matchup edges they hold.
