FREE PICK: Houston Rockets at Golden St. Warriors Game 1

#555 Houston Rockets +5.5 (Sunday, April [email protected]:35pm EST)

Much has gone the way of the Warriors, while winning the title in three of the last four years.  Many of their opponents failed to compete at full strength including the Rockets in last year’s Western Conference Finals missing Chris Paul in Game 6 and Game 7.  Certainly give the Warriors credit for continuing to hit another level of play, but this year feels like a more uphill battle.  First, the Warriors must fire back for this Game 1 about 36 hours after they ousted the overmatched Clippers on Friday night.  Making matters much worse is the ankle injuries to Klay Thompson and Steph Curry, with Thompson’s sounding much more questionable.  Note during their current dynasty under Steve Kerr the Warriors have never entered a playoff series with one day rest.  Meanwhile, the Rockets reportedly hit the Bay Area on Friday night in anticipation of their upcoming clash with the team slogan “unfinished business” throughout this year’s campaign.  With the situation clearly favoring the Rockets their on-court play matches their ability to play with the Warriors as well.  Since a troubling start to the season the Rockets finished the year 42-15, while accounting for the best defensive rating since the All-Star break.  Note the Warriors defense continues to waver with a reach to past editions highly problematic.  The Rockets took the season series 3-1, again missed Paul to close out the Warriors a season ago, while James Harden shot 41.5% from the field and 24% from the three-point line.  Sunday game will serve as a favoring spot for the Rockets to steal a game in Oakland.  Take the Rockets plus the points.
