College Basketball Betting Free Pick: Akron Zips at Buffalo Bulls

FREE PICK: Akron Zips at Buffalo Bulls

#604 UNDER 150.5 (Tuesday, February 26 @ 7 pm EST)

The betting markets have been consistently betting both Akron and Buffalo games over the total over the last month or so. The Bulls certainly play “over” type basketball but oddsmakers have been fairly accurate with their number as they sit 7-7 over/under in MAC play. Akron has been one of the more “dead nuts” under teams in college basketball this season. The Zips opened MAC play 1-9 O/U but have since gone over the total in three of four. The last time these two teams met, the total opened 143.5, reached as high as 149 and closed 145/145.5. Buffalo won 76-70 but it was an “under” game for 35+ minutes. The Bulls led 30-28 at halftime and with five minutes to go in the game, there were only 115 points. A “foul fest” commenced down the stretch which not only skewed the score but the pace (74 possessions) as well. It’ll be a bit more tricky for Akron to play its preferred style of grind-it-out tempo as +14 road underdogs. But other factors are in play including the Zips being offensively inept (0.94 ppp vs. MAC) and both teams ranking first and second in the league in defensive efficiency. I wasn’t interested at 144.5 but thanks to a big market push, value has been created at 150.5.
