College Basketball Betting Free Pick: Saint Louis Billikens at St. Joseph’s Hawks
FREE PICK: Saint Louis Billikens at St. Joseph’s Hawks
#851 Saint Louis -2.5 (Friday, February 8 @ 4 pm EST)
The Atlantic-10 is #12 in KenPom’s conference ratings, sitting behind the MAC, Southern Conference and Ivy League. For a conference that is used to getting multiple bids into the NCAA tournament, this has to be disappointing. No A-10 team can survive losing the conference tournament at the Barclays Center and still get in. Davidson, VCU and Dayton would be very fortunate to even be mentioned as a bubble team. Saint Louis and St. Joseph’s are not even in that category. SJU has been the victim of the injury bug as starters Pierfrancesco Olivia has been out since December and Lamarr Kimble has been missing since mid-January. The Hawks are near the bottom of KenPom’s unit rankings in the conference. There is no silver lining, they are bad.
Saint Louis is lurking mid-pack and would love to make a move. Unlike St. Joe’s, Travis Ford’s team can really benefit from a win tonight. The Billikens have George Washington and La Salle on deck and could make a push into the upper tier of the conference at 9-4 with three straight wins in games they should be favored. Finishing in the top four and getting that automatic bye into the quarterfinals will be worth it in a wide open conference tournament. I expect the #17 defense in KenPom’s ratings to ramp up the effort tonight led by Javon Bess, who Ford claims is the best defender in the nation. Lay the -2.5 with Saint Louis in Philadelphia tonight.
Micah Joe is currently 154-130 (54.2%) on the season including winners with 10 of his last 14 selections. Check out all of his subscription options here.
