If we were to put betting lines on the upcoming college football season, the originally projected start date of August 29 would be an underdog and an abbreviated campaign and/or later start date would at best be even money. The reality is other than a multi-day event like Coachella, there aren’t many activities more precarious than the day-to-day operations of a college football team in terms of keeping people safe from one another. But there’s nothing wrong with having a little optimism these days and DraftKings was kind enough to entertain bettors by posting regular season win totals on all 130 college football teams. In skimming through the list and numbers we spotted a few worth mentioning. Defending National Champion LSU opened 9ov-137. The Tigers of course won all 12 regular season games en route to a perfect 15-0 record. Key games include playing host to Texas and Alabama while closing the year with back-to-back road games at Auburn and Texas A&M. Clemson, who lost to LSU in the title game, opened 11.5-un-121. The Tigers haven’t lost an ACC game since October of 2017. Their most competitively lined regular season game projects to be a November 7 trip to Notre Dame — book-ended by a bye week and a home tilt vs. The Citadel. The Irish are lined 10un-121. Ohio State checks in with the second-highest win total at 11. The Buckeyes travel to Oregon and Penn State and play host to Michigan. As mentioned, Alabama (10.5ov-200) must travel to Death Valley and faces USC in Arlington, Texas on September 5. And let’s not forget the little guy. Akron was the only FCS team that failed to win a game in 2019. The Zips are pegged for improvement at 2ov-121.
