NBA Betting: Celtics, Bucks, Raptors and 76ers co-Favorites to Win Eastern Conference
The NBA trade deadline has passed and while Anthony Davis remains in New Orleans there was plenty of action, particularly in the Eastern Conference. Bettors now have the opportunity to adjust their numbers and see how oddsmakers and the betting markets react to the trades.
Prior to all of the player movement, the Westgate Superbook had the Boston Celtics and Toronto Raptors as co-favorites to win the Eastern Conference at +160 followed by the Milwaukee Bucks (+250) and Philadelphia 76ers (+500). With the Bucks adding Nikola Mirotic and the 76ers Tobias Harris, all four teams are now priced at +225 (see below). The Indiana Pacers, who currently hold the fourth seed, are +1000.
Veteran sports bettor and BettorIQ handicapper Erin Rynning had this to say on the Eastern Conference’s new look: “Philadelphia is obviously going for it with Jimmy Butler and now Tobias Harris on board. They upgrade the roster some but based on what they gave up, two really bad moves long term for an origination that up until recently had been pretty savvy. Milwaukee picking up Nikola Mirotic was a huge score. He’s a better player than Harris, should fit well with this team, and the Bucks didn’t sacrifice much of anything. Milwaukee, who I currently have power rated as the top team in the Eastern Conference, is now a true contender to come out of the East. Not a bad move for Toronto in grabbing Marc Gasol though he’s clearly not healthy. Raptors would be better served to sit him a few weeks that way he’s ready for the stretch run. And despite Boston not making any moves, the Celtics have postseason experience and coaching in their favor.”
