2020 NFL Draft to be Held in Las Vegas

Industry NFL

If you’re wondering whether or not the NFL is on board with the legalization of sports betting in the United States look no further than yesterday’s announcement that the 2020 draft will take place in gambling epicenter Las Vegas. The league also made it known that it is seeking a casino partner. The NBA, MLB and NHL has already inked deals with MGM Resorts. MGM is actively trying to create a relationship with the NFL though the two sides appear to disagree on whether or not sports betting in the U.S. should be run by the states or on a federal level.

“The NFL Draft is one of the most-anticipated events of the year and we are excited to take it to Las Vegas,” Goodell said in a statement. “We look forward to working with the Raiders, Las Vegas officials and the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority to create an unforgettable week-long celebration of football for our fans, the incoming prospects and partners.”

“It is not a coincidence that we have relationships with those three leagues and not currently with the NFL,” Murren said. “This is an emerging field, I think anyone that drives a stake in the ground and says ‘this is my position and I’m not willing to change,’ is going to end up eating those words.”
