NFL Betting: With Darnold Out and Siemian In, Markets Adjust Four Points
Another week, another NFL starting quarterback on the shelf. News broke yesterday morning that New York Jets quarterback Sam Darnold will be sidelined indefinitely with mono.
Thrust into the starting role will be Trevor Siemian who saw ample playing time in 2017 and 2017 for the Denver Broncos. Siemian did not play last season while backing up Kirk Cousins in Minnesota.
The situation obviously forced oddsmakers to adjust both the side and total for the Jets’ Monday night game vs. Cleveland.

Browns -6.5

Offshore heavyweight CRIS wasn’t as reactionary as it opened the Browns -4.5 and the total 44.
A majority of offshore and Las Vegas sportsbooks currently show Cleveland -6.5 O/U 44.
The four-point adjustment on the side is similar to what the markets adjusted when Indianapolis’ Jacoby Brissett stepped in following the retirement of Andrew Luck.
