It’s not a full market but it’s still impressive to see sides and totals on NFL Week 1 games at selective offshore and Las Vegas sportsbooks. The Westgate SuperBook was the first to post numbers Wednesday afternoon. Since then William Hill, CG Technology, CRIS and 5Dimes have followed suit. One of the perks of such an early market is it obviously gives bettors plenty of time to handicap. And historically, since the advent of these “early bird” lines, the markets don’t move much of any throughout the summer unless there is a key injury or suspension.

Couple of note bettors should be aware of…

In last season’s Week 13, the Eagles closed -5.5 home chalk vs. the Redskins but are -8 (the highest Week 1 point spread) for Week 1. Note too that Washington’s regular season win total took “over” money at CG Technology.

The New York Jets have been favored by -3 or more only twice since 2016. They lost both games by a combined score of 61-22 including last season’s 41-10 home loss to Buffalo.

In Week 15, Detroit closed -2.5 at Arizona and won 17-3. The current line for this year’s rematch is a pick ’em.

Oddsmakers obviously not high on the New York Giants. Back in Week 2, the G-Men were modest +3 road underdogs vs. Dallas and won 20-13. Here they find themselves catching over a touchdown.

Oakland was favored in only one game last season (-2.5 vs. Cleveland) and won in overtime, 45-42. While they remain -2.5 vs. Denver at the Westgate and CRIS, other sportsbooks have moved to -3 even money.
